Our 2026 PCE explores how AI impacts the production, interpretation, and teaching of literary texts, framed within the broader theme of Digital Media and Culture. Technology has long expanded the boundaries of literature—through social media, streaming, online forums, and forms like hyperfiction, which allows readers to shape narratives. AI is the latest evolution in this digital shift. Now widely used across many fields, AI tools are influencing literature, (inter)cultural learning, and education. In ELT, AI literacy has become essential for both teachers and students. posing both opportunities and challenges. AI’s growing role in publishing also raises questions of authenticity, ethics, and sustainability. Our PCE will feature speakers from various literary fields who will share insights on how these technologies shape their work and how this can inform classroom practice. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss these developments. They will leave with a deeper understanding of how to engage with literature responsibly in the digital age and how AI is reshaping the landscape of literature.
